A miracle had happened in a remote village in northern mainland Japan. It was an incident nobody in the village had ever dreamed of: none of the babies born in the village within the past year had died. It was a remarkable record which was miraculous for the villagers when they realized that the infant mortality rate of the village had been reduced to zero. The location of this miracle? Sawauchi Village, Waga country in Iwate Prefecture, populated by 6.500 people... or at least it was in 1962 when this extraordinary drop in infant mortality occured
